In fact, it’s probably the longest running promotion my client has ever run.
And I believe it’s still kicking even today (a financial promo running for 4-5 years is pretty damn rare).
It’s called Prime Profits…

While we could talk about the promotion itself – I want to talk about the lift (AKA email or swipe) that STILL holds the title of “control” after all these years…

Here’s the breakdown:
1. The Subject Line

There’s three very important things happening here to get the open…
A benefit: you could get paid.
Curiosity: could you really get paid?
But specificity...
Oh sweet, sweet specificity...
It's a veritable copy superpower!
We won't unpack all of its secrets today, but what's happening in this subject line is that we're being highly specific about where this money is coming from: Amazon.
And also that this is "legally obligated" — i.e. it HAS to happen.
The specificity makes this feel more real and it builds out the picture of this opportunity. Thus taking up critical “real estate” in your prospect’s mind.
Bottom line, this triple-threat combo of benefit + curiosity + specificity is a model anyone can use to get more opens.
2. The Body Copy
You’ve sold the open, now you need to sell the read.
This shocking news could make you $48,000 richer...
We're clearly ramping up the benefit right here by being specific about the $48,000 number...
But the more important part is that we're calling this "news".
It implies that what's happening is novel and occurring RIGHT NOW.
This works because we’re hardwired to pay attention to “new” since novelty delivers a flood of dopamine into our brain.
After this, we give our readers a plausible reason why they could easily make the original $48,000 money claim.
At the time of writing, Amazon (along with Bezos) was a punching bag of the media and government officials.

So it’s believable that the government would step in and take action.
All I had to do was say it.
3. The CTA Copy
This is straightforward…
Simply offer the reader a way to learn more about claiming this pool of money waiting for them – while leaning into urgency as well.
